With the semester quickly coming to a close and most colleges and universities beginning their study week next Monday, we thought it’d be good to give out some free tips on how to reduce your stress levels when preparing for exams. Come back daily for further tips as we’ll be releasing one every day from now Wednesday 27/11 until Sunday the 07/12.
Pomodoro Technique
Make sure to break your study down into bite-sized chunks. Aimlessly wandering through readings and skimming the words isn’t productive and will just lead to more stress. Instead, try the “Pomodoro technique” which is where you decide you actively and productively work for 25 minutes immediately followed by a 5-minute break. This will allow you small rest periodically as opposed to becoming worn out from continuous work. Make sure to put your phone away from you and don’t have any social media open. Some people like to use a kitchen timer or others opt to use a smartphone stopwatch. We have linked a handy video below which has a 2 hour Pomodoro rhythm made ready for you to use. Set it to 25 minutes and begin to work. Once the timer reaches zero feel free to check Facebook or Twitter for 5 minutes and maybe watch a cat video or two on Youtube. Once the 5 minutes has ended restart the timer and begin to work again.
