Ireland and the people of Ireland are admired in every corner of the globe. No matter where you visit, we are welcomed with open arms and hear stories about how people love our little country. But, it shouldn’t take travelling abroad to appreciate our heritage.
Between a glorious landscape, humour that is unrivalled and a history as colourful as any, we have many reasons to smile when we think of our country. If you're having a bad day, check out this list of posts from 2019. They are bound to put a smile on your face and make you proud to be Irish!
10. Dublin in The Rain
We are renowned for our bad weather. The entire country gets it's fair share of rain, as well as most of Europe's share. However, sometimes the weather can add some amazing visual effects to our scenery. Dublin may not be recognised as the most beautiful city we have to offer, but check out this snap from Andy Sheridan which captures the nightlights glowing off the wet streets and buildings, as he looks over the historical Ha'penny Bridge.

They say that 'west is best' and it very well may be when you're searching for a spectacular sunrise. Mullaghmore in County Sligo has the best-placed bench in the world to witness the sun waking up.
7. Rod Stewart
I mentioned our colourful history already, but it has fascinated people in all corners of the globe. Ahead of his concert in Dublin, Rod Stewart visited Kilmainham Gaol with his band to learn the story of Grace Gifford and Joseph Plunkett. The story clearly touched him!

Have you been to Achill Island? There really is nowhere like it if you want to appreciate the Irish Landscape. Rugged cliffs, peaceful beaches and unobstructed nature make it a must-see. It's as Irish as you will find!

Our athletes returned home from the 2019 Special Olympics with an astonishing 86 medals! Look at the joy on their faces and the sound of the cheer for them If that doesn't warm your heart nothing will. Go on Ireland!!
4. The Earliest St. Patricks Day Parade
Did you know they mad people of Dingle start their Paddy's Day Parade at 6am? It has been a tradition since the 1880's that lives on to this day. Just imagine the scenes as you March through the town in darkness and watch the sunrise at the finish. Only in Ireland!

Bonnie Greer drew plaudits all over The Emerald Isle as she stood up for our country. During all the talk of Brexit and trade deals, Bonnie made it very clear what side The US would be supporting and the importance of Ireland in America. Mess with us, mess with America!

We really know how to celebrate, don't we! Could you imagine a millionaire golfer from any other country dancing and singing on a table to traditional music? 1.. Ladies Hockey Team Qualify for First Ever Olympics
We enjoy the underdog tag and causing a surprise, don't we? Our ladies hockey team have led the way in competing with the best in the last two years, and qualifying for their first ever Olympics was another huge achievement for our country. We are in no way a hockey stronghold, but these ladies are throwing the status quo out the window and competing with the best.
